Adult Education Advocacy Taskforce
In December 2009, Governor Jindal announced his intention to file legislation that would move adult education from the Department of Education to the Louisiana Community and Technical College system. In January, 2010 Superintendent Pastorek announced a 66% mid-year cut in state funds to adult education. Adult literacy advocates in the region and around the state are mobilizing to ensure that the proposed move is informed by all affected stakeholders and is accompanied by sufficient state resources.
