9/11 Training and Day of Remembrance

For the first time ever, over 100 AmeriCorps members from the Greater New Orleans area gathered for a training and service project. What better way to kick off this new partnership than on a day so important to our country. In the morning, Corps members from the American Red Cross, Rebuilding Together, Trinity Christian Community, and LA Delta Service Corps came together to learn about the history of New Orleans, the State of our Recovery, and the important of 9/11 as a day of service and remembrance. In the afternoon, the members divided up into three groups to complete service projects: helping seniors fill out local emergency cards, canvassing local universities with flu prevention information, and preparing green energy homeowner bags for over 500 residents. Overall, the day was a success and a positive way to honor the brave men and women who rushed into the towers on that fateful September morning.
