The Components of Numeracy: Tools for Engaging Learners in Meaningful Math

Literacy AmeriCorps (LAC) members learned about the basic components of math and how math appears everyday in learners' lives. The LAC members received an article from Focus on Basics, Designing Instruction with the Components of Numeracy in Mind by Linda Ginsburg. They also watched a video about making gelato and all of the math skills needed when running or woroking at a gelato store. It allowed the LAC members to see how many ways we use math.
