L*AC Publications

Not only do our members teach writing skills they have ample opportunities to express their own literary talents in both formal and informal avenues. Literacy AmeriCorps currently produces two publications: the monthly newsletter AmerWord and the AmeriBlog. In addition to these, Literacy AmeriCorps members are actively working on helping the New Orleans Adult Learner Community to create a Literary Magazine, which will be published quarterly - we hope!

AMERIWORD

AmeriWord, the monthly newsletter for Literacy*AmeriCorps in New Orleans, seeks to inform our readers about the various activities of our AmeriCorps members as we work to improve the educational skills of our students and help in the struggle against low levels of literacy in the greater New Orleans region.

AMERIBLOG

The AmeriBlog, a blog run by our Literacy AmeriCorps members, allows readers insight into the daily activities of our members, reflections about their service both in their sites and throughout the community, thoughts and commentary on issues affecting the literacy community and the New Orleans community at large, and special entries from our program coordinator and program staff.

ADULT LEARNER LITERARY MAGAZINE

This magazine will contain a collection of original writings, including essays, poetry, and short stories wrtten by adult learners throughout the Greater New Orleans area. We also hope to highlight artwork created by these learners.

Currently we are accepting submissions of any type of writing and any length. HELP NAME OUR MAGAZINE!! We are currently accepting submissions of names for our new Literacy Magazine (the first edition hopefully due out this winter).
