The Bridge Project

Realigning existing resources for efficiency, scale, sustainability and inclusiveness

There is a bridge that connects the goals and aspirations of un-and underemployment people with the need of business for skilled reliable employees. The Bridge Project Collaborative includes all of the organizations that comprise the workforce development system working to realign and coordinate existing resources for efficiency, scale, sustainability and inclusiveness. The Collaborative includes regional Workforce Investment Boards, economic development organizations, local educational systems and literacy programs, community social service organizations, and employers. The Collaborative members have a mutual understanding to work towards a seamless, united approach to workforce development.

The Collaborative supports the Bridge Project which works to help  un- and under-employed individuals get the skills they need to obtain "good jobs." A good job is one that pays a living wage, has benefits and a career path. A training class was created to help individuals assess and improve their job readiness and academic skills in order to overcome barriers to long-term employment, make well-informed career decisions, get a foot in the door with partner employers, and access continuing educational opportunities.
