Our mission is to increased adult literacy by supporting existing adult literacy programs and by advocating for increased resources and support for adult literacy initiatives in the greater New Orleans region.
Donate
Your dollars will help an AmeriCorps member teach someone to read; make adult literacy a priority for New Orleans and Louisiana, help a learner get the GED credential needed for a better job.
Invest
Invest in basic skills for your entry level employees. Invite adult learners to tour your company. Invite a representative to speak to your civic group about the literacy issue.

Help your children in their studies so they can stay in school Support a family member or friend who wants to continue his or her education.

- About 25% of adults in our region do not have a high school diploma; about half of those are functioning at the lowest literacy level.
- Last year only 10,000 students were served in 19 New Orleans area programs. The average new learner tested in at 5th grade for reading and math skills.
- Federal funding for adult education is $220/student; compare to Head Start $6000/student; K-12 $6500+ per student; Higher Education $16,000/per student.
